Understanding Image Resolution — 720p, 1080p, 4K Explained

Resolution is simply the number of pixels in your image. More pixels = more detail, larger file. Less pixels = faster loading, smaller file. This tool lets you change resolution to any standard or custom dimension instantly in your browser.

Resolution Standards Reference

NamePixelsCommon Use
HD (720p)1280 × 720Basic web, email
Full HD (1080p)1920 × 1080Websites, social media
2K (QHD)2560 × 1440High-res displays
4K (UHD)3840 × 21604K TV, large print

Upscaling vs Downscaling

Downscaling always looks clean — you're removing pixels and the result is sharp. Upscaling invents new pixels using interpolation — results look smooth but don't add real detail that wasn't in the original. For critical print work, always start with the highest resolution source available.
